Setting up a BirthdayBot team

BirthdayBot will help you remember your teammates' birthdays and will make sure your colleagues feel valued when their birthdays come. 

When adding BirthdayBot to your workspace, you'll be offered to set up a channel where the bot will post congratulation messages. So once invited to the channel, BirthdayBot will automatically create a team including all the members from the selected channel.

Once confirmed, the bot will message the channel offering your team either to set their birthdays or explore the app.

 

No worries if you missed the step of choosing a channel. There's a couple of ways you can create a new team:

1. within the intro message from the bot

If you click the Skip button, BirthayBot will send you a private greeting message offering to get settled. Please, hit the Start button to proceed.

2. on the Home tab

Open the app on its Home tab and click the Create New Team button.

3. with the help of a shortcut

Let's click the plus icon to the left of the message field and select Browse all shortcuts. 

Start typing BirthdayBot in the Search shortcuts field and select the Create birthday team option.

Any way you go, a new window will pop up showing intro info and some tips - please, go through them thoroughly.

Having clicked the Continue button, the bot will ask you to type in the name of the BirthdayBot team and specify the channel where you want the bot to post birthday cards.

Once you fill out the form, click the Next button, and decide whether you want BirthdayBot

• to send a welcome message to the related channel,
• to collect your teammates' birth dates,
• to post congrats on the channel.

Hit the Save button to finish the process of setting up the team.
