Sharing a birthday is optional. Each employee can opt out of setting their birth date when the bot is collecting it.
BirthdayBot also supports setting a birthday, but making it “private” which disables public birthday acknowledgment in the related Slack channel.
To mark the birthday as private, let's go to the Slack Apps section and open BirthdayBot on its Home tab. Once on this tab, find the Show more button on the right of the layout in Your summary section and choose the Edit info option.
A new window will pop-up giving you a chance to keep your birthday private by ticking the relevant box.
Having done that, the bot will still send reminders to your teammates about your birthday but won't post congrats in the channel.
